Begining with a small discussion by member of Pecinta Alam Haliaster of Biology Undip at the end of December 2005, who want to realize an organization for birdwatchers, which not only filled by the internal, but also students from other universities, even from the society.

A community that is liquid, not to strict and not too formal for members. Whoever like with birdwatching activities can come to join. This community namely Kelompok Pengamat Burung Suka-suka (Kopasus) Semarang.

Meanwhile, birdwatching hobby has become a new phenomenon among environment conservasionist. This hobby is quite easy, cheap, and for everyone. The most special of this hobby is able to combine the sports, spirit, arts, and knowledge (scientific).

On the further development this community then changed to be Semarang Bird Community (SBC). The purpose of this development is to provide more broadly activity. Not only venue for birdwatching, but also in the field of environmental conservation with the natural birds as a key.

SBC in this case want to play a role in coordinating the movement of various groups of birdwatchers and environmentalist in the region Semarang and surrounding areas. From a more synergistic movement between the groups can will be produced an environmental profile of Semarang region’s. This profile will be used as a reference of conservation on the development in Semarang area.
